Residents of the central highlands woke to a winter wonderland on Wednesday as an unexpected cold front dumped 15–25 cm of fresh snow across the region.
Ski resorts that had begun closing for the season hastily reopened lifts, while road crews worked through the morning to clear major routes. Several rural schools delayed opening by two hours.
"March snow isn't unheard of, but this amount is unusual for this late in the season," said forecaster Oskar Nyström. "It's a reminder that spring doesn't arrive in a straight line."
