Record Number of Students Apply to Medical Schools
Applications to medical programmes have risen 22% year-on-year, driven by pandemic-era interest in healthcare careers.

The national university admissions office reports that medical school applications reached 28,400 this spring — a 22% increase over last year and the highest figure on record.
Experts attribute the surge to a combination of pandemic-era inspiration and improved salaries negotiated in the latest collective agreement for junior doctors.
"We welcome the interest, but capacity is a constraint," said Professor Björn Ekdahl. "Without more clinical placements and teaching staff, we cannot simply expand seats."
